MONEY AND BANKSThe currency in Slovenia is the EURO. The current exchange rate approximately is £1 = 1.30 Euro. For up to date exchange rates, click here. Cash and travellers cheques can be exchanged at banks, post offices, travel agencies, and private exchange offices (menjalnice). Exchange rates can vary, depending on type of the place of exchange. Usually banks pay a higher rate for traveler checks than for cash. Post offices usually are not good places to change traveler checks as often they only accept cash and when they do take checks normally it is at a very poor rate. HOWEVER, Post Offices and banks are both better than exchange offices for cash exchanges as they do not take commission for changing cash.
