How to get there |

By Air from the UK and EireMost flights to Slovenia from the UK operate to Joze Pucnik Airport (Ljubljana), which sits in a fairly central location just to the north of the capital Ljubljana. There are also several cities in neighbouring countries which are very close to Slovenia’s borders - Trieste airport is to the south-west in Italy; the Croatian capital Zagreb is to the east, and the Austrian airports of Graz and Klagenfurt are both just to the north. The map at the left will show you the position of these airports with respect to Apartment Bled.
There are direct flights from:
One stop indirect flights via Mainland Europe: It is also easy to get there with one stop from a number of UK airports with Lufthansa (via Frankfurt) and Air France (via Paris). I found a flight in a month's time from Paris to Ljubljana for £131 return by Air France. Click here to see which European airlines fly to Slovenia.
Connections: There are direct mini-bus connections between Ljubljana Airport (Joze Pucnik) and Bled, or you can take a taxi or rent a car (Hertz; Avis; Europcar; Alpetour; Sixt). For more information on local transport, click here. From Klagenfurt airport you can come to Slovenia by train (railway station Lesce-Bled in the town of Lesce, or Bled Jezero (northern shore of the lake), or rent a car. Directions in Bled: Visitors should go to “Grajska 46” on arrival in Bled. This is right next to the Castle and two minutes away from Pizzeria “Matjaz”. If driving alone, follow the signs for the Castle; the train station and Pokljuka. See local map for precise instructions on where the apartment is.
By Car from the UKIt is a very long way! From Edinburgh, Scotland to Bled is 1000 miles. |
